I spent 8 days traveling to the Western Slope of Colorado to visit my friend Dawn in Austin, Colorado and get some tree-ripened peaches! On the way back, took a detour on the Peak-to-Peak byway and camped for several days near Allenspark, Colorado.
Picked 25 lbs of peaches from the Antelope Hill Orchards and packed them in a plastic bin to transport home. A few made it to Denver!
Took a day trip to Escalante Canyon near Delta Colorado.
Meandered back toward Denver, by way of the Peak-to-Peak scenic highway to Camp Dick campground, where I camped near my friend Rob for five days. Camp Dick is the site of a Civilian Conservation Corps camp that was established in the 1930s. It is situated in a glacial valley adjacent to Middle Saint Vrain Creek, with a mixture of forest and open meadow.
I shared my campsite with a moose cow and her calf, as well as several hummingbirds!
